Withings ScanWatch review: an elegant health and fitness tracking wearable device

I have tested countless smart watch with Fitness trackerMany of them impressed me from the beginning. But few people claim that there is a point on my wrist after the inspection is complete. After I forgot to charge them, all of them ended up being discarded on the bedside table. Most smart watches tout features that I have barely used, and fitness trackers often look uncoordinated outside the gym.

Withings ScanWatch is different. This hybrid smartwatch has a very special set of skills: it is easily comparable to analog watches; it tracks my activity, exercise, and sleep; it keeps an eye on my health; it provides basic notifications from my phone. It can also last a full month between charges.

Understated elegance

The sapphire glass and stainless steel structure of the timepiece constitute an exquisite pairing that conveys quality. Withings ScanWatch looks like a traditional watch with chromed hour and minute hands. There are two smaller dials inside the round dial. The bottom dial has a red analog pointer that shows your progress towards your fitness goal for the day, expressed as a percentage between 0 and 100. The top dial is actually not a dial at all.Press the rotating crown on the side of ScanWatch, the minute and hour hands are like a tiny Passive matrix OLED display Lively, showing you the digital time and date. Rotate the crown to view the different data displayed on the small screen: your heart rate, steps, distance traveled and floors climbed.

Switch from one Apple WatchAt first, I found that the 42mm Withings ScanWatch was very heavy. It has thick lugs (the design of the 38mm model is more refined), but it is a comfortable timepiece with a large black fluoroelastomer wristband, which has proven to be more durable and more durable than the silicone watch I have used The belt is more difficult to pick up fluff before wearing. ScanWatch looks and feels very precise. The classic design can be integrated with any environment or clothing, so I rarely feel the need to take it off when dressing up or dressing up.

Distilled and accessible

Withings ScanWatch removes redundant smartwatch functions and focuses on fitness and health. There is no NFC for mobile payments, no microphones or speakers for calls or voice assistants, and no music playback. You can turn on the incoming notifications of your phone, but I recommend setting them to call only because the display is too small to show other notifications. When a ticker text message is expanded, you can easily take your phone out of your pocket, read the notification, and then put it away.

For me, it’s rare to use the device for nine months before the review, but the release of Withings ScanWatch in the US was delayed because the manufacturer sought permission from the US Food and Drug Administration because it was able to detect the atria through the built-in ECG. Vibrate the sensor and use the SpO2 sensor to measure blood oxygen levels. These two Apple Watch 7 with Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Provides similar functions, but only Withings ScanWatch is approved by the FDA for blood oxygen monitoring.
