A few months ago, the Ukrainian government sold a Cryptopunk NFT donated to support the war-torn country. The country’s Ministry of Digital Transformation said the token had been purchased by an unidentified buyer who spent more than $100,000 in ether for the collectible.
Ukrainian government sells donated Cryptopunk tokens for $90 Ethereum
Ukrainian authorities sell Cryptopunk non-fungible tokens (NFT), Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and his deputy Alexander Bornyakov announced on social media. This unique collectible was sold by an unknown investor for 90 ETH (Ethereum).

The NFT, Cryptopunk #5364, was donated to the Aid Ukraine crypto fundraiser in early March. At the time, Bornyakov tweeted that it was worth 56 Ethereum But prior to the recent crypto market crash, ethereum and other cryptocurrencies were much more expensive.
The Eastern European country, a former Soviet republic, was invaded by its larger neighbor Russia in the early hours of February 24.The Kyiv government and some volunteer organizations have since become increasingly reliant cryptocurrency donation, including NFTs. The country has raised millions of dollars to fund its defense and humanitarian efforts.

The global crypto community continues to support Ukraine, Alex Bornyakov noted in a tweet on Monday, announcing the sale of tokens in the Cryptopunk series. “Just wanted to thank the crypto community for their generous donations,” Mykhailo Fedorov, who also serves as Ukraine’s deputy prime minister, tweeted on Tuesday.
Cypherpunk is a collection of NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain. Launched in 2017, the project offers some of the first crypto collectibles. Cryptopunk #5364 is not the first to use To raise funds for Ukraine. In March, the sale of Ukrainian flag NFTs raised more than $6.7 million in Ethereum.
