Kyiv, May 27 (Reuters) – Ukraine is in no hurry to talk to Russia’s Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday, but it must face the reality that it may be necessary to end the war.
“There are some things to discuss with the Russian leader. I’m not telling you, for me, our people are eager to talk to him, but we have to face the reality we are going through,” Zelensky told the Indonesian think tank group.
“What do we want from this meeting … we want our lives to resume … we want to resume life as a sovereign state within our own territory,” he said, adding that Russia It doesn’t seem ready to take the peace talks seriously. (Writing by Conor Humphries; Editing by John Stonestreet)
