Tyler Perry There won’t be a “talk” with his son anytime soon, because despite heightened racial tensions in the country…he doesn’t want a 7-year-old to have to think about these things. not yet.
Taylor opened up about the pivotal parenting decision in an interview with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) — yes, he’s in his 50s — saying he wanted to wait as long as possible to talk to Oman about race and ethnicity in the world doctrine.
He explained: “I don’t want to tell him that someone will judge him for the colour of his skin because now he is of various races in school and all these kids are in their purest state. When he describes his friends, he Never define them by race.”
In case you didn’t know, Taylor has Aman and model Glila Bekele, although the couple reportedly ended the affair in 2020 — after more than a decade together — and they’re happily co-parenting .
“The Conversation”…as all Black American families know…it’s been a big talking point in society in the wake of George Floyd’s 2020 murder–so, Taylor’s approach is interesting. The sad truth is that most black children are not immune to the harsh reality of racism, but Taylor would be the first to say he is in a very lucky position.
He said: “At that moment [Aman] It’s going to be a very, very sad day for me to lose my innocence”… However, he admits that day will eventually come because his son is already asking some tough questions.
Most importantly…Taylor said he wanted to talk so his son would not tolerate injustice and work to change the world.
