Thousands march in Brussels against Belgium’s COVID measures

Brussels (Associated Press)-Thousands of people gathered in the center of Brussels on Sunday to protest the government’s measures to strengthen COVID-19 in response to the latest surge in coronavirus cases.

Many of them also protested the strong recommendation for vaccination and any mandatory injections.

The protest march was lined up behind a huge banner with the words “Together for Freedom”. There were smoke bombs and firecrackers, but there were no violent incidents in the early days of the parade, because the parade will end outside the EU headquarters.

In the past few days, many European countries have held demonstrations following the tightening of government measures.

After more serious violence the night before, Dutch police arrested more than 30 people during riots in The Hague and other towns in the Netherlands on Saturday.
