Investing.com-Major US indexes opened slightly above flat on the last day of the year. The opening rose by 0.04%, while it was up 10 points, or 0.02%, and trading was up 20 points, or 0.1%. Small-cap stocks also rose slightly at the opening of 0.07%.

This was a week after the traditional “Santa Claus Rally”. Due to reduced trading volume and limited news, the index rose by nearly 1% in a week.

Although no major news is expected today, investors’ eyes may fall on airline cancellations or any developments in Covid. Today’s speed is very fast, with more than 1,000 flights cancelled. Covid cases continue to hit record highs, and as the New Year’s celebrations approach, many officials are preparing to jump from here again. At the same time, the United Kingdom approved the use of Pavloxid, Pfizer (NYSE code:) Antiviral pills used for the treatment of Covid-19 in adults and South Africa have eliminated the curfew requirement.
