Spider-Man comic page sells for $3 million at auction

Dallas — A page of art from a 1984 Spider-Man comic book sold for a record $3.36 million at auction on Thursday.

Mike Zeke’s artwork on page 25 in Marvel Comics #8’s Secret Wars brings the first appearance of Spider-Man’s black suit. The symbiote suit will eventually lead to the appearance of the Venom character.

The record bids, which started at $330,000 and soared to $3 million, took place on the first day of Heritage Auctions’ four-day comic event. Dallas.

Also on Thursday, one of the few surviving copies of Superman debut Action Comics No. 1 sold for $3.18 million, making it one of the most expensive books ever sold at auction.
