Telefonica, one of Spain’s largest telecom operators, and fabless chip designer Qualcomm have signed a partnership to advance joint Extended Reality and Metaverse plans. Telefonica will bring these Metaverse experiences to its customers using Snapdragon Spaces, a new technology from Qualcomm. The agreement also includes the possibility of pursuing joint business opportunities.

Spaces is also a device-independent technology, so virtual worlds designed with it will work with any headset on the market, including the Meta Quest line of devices. Telefonica will incorporate this technology into programs to be developed through its Metaverse Hub, dedicated to Web3, Augmented Reality and Metaverse initiatives.
