SpaceX successfully completes static ignition test of Starship Super Heavy booster

In the company’s previous static firing test attempts, the booster caught fire on the launch pad. Company chief Elon Musk tweeted at the time that the problem stemmed from engine spin-start tests conducted by SpaceX, and that in the future, the company “will not spin-start all 33 engines at the same time.”

In addition to testing Booster 7, SpaceX also performed static fire tests of two of the six Raptor engines on Starship 24. This is the current prototype of the upper stage of the launch system, which will fly into space for the system’s first orbital flight test. It’s unclear when SpaceX intends to send Starship into orbit for the first time, but it may need to do more before then Testing, including static firing of more Raptor engines.
