Sony showcases its electric car market ambitions with Vision-S 02 electric SUV

At this year’s CES, Sony announced the follow-up Electronic car It was revealed in the same incident two years ago. The new prototype is the SUV that the company is calling Vision-S 02Sony adopted the car’s EV and cloud platform and placed them in a new shape to create this car, which has a large interior that can accommodate 7 people.

The body of this electric SUV is covered with sensors, including CMOS images and LiDAR sensors for driver assistance systems. Sony said it is conducting tests in Europe as part of its efforts to release level 2+ driver assistance technology on public roads. Inside, there are time-of-flight sensors for driver authentication, as well as support for intuitive gestures and voice commands. The vehicle will also have 5G connectivity for wireless updates and remote operation. Sony is currently working with its partners.

Although Vision-S 02 is currently only a prototype, Sony has the ambition to become a participant in the electric car industry and sell its cars to the public. It will establish an operating company called “Sony Mobile.” This spring, will explore to enter the electric car market. The company did not disclose what other steps it has taken to achieve this goal, and whether it can actually release the Vision-S car remains to be seen. However, it is worth noting that Sony has been testing its electric cars on public roads in Europe since December 2020, and has begun to verify the safety and user experience of vehicle imaging and sensing technologies.
