“Some people died” during SUV parade in Wisconsin

On Sunday afternoon, when a sports utility vehicle accelerated into the Christmas parade in the suburbs of Milwaukee, the death toll was unknown and more than 20 adults and children were injured.

At a press conference on Sunday night, the authorities stated that 11 adults and 12 children in the parade in downtown Waukesha, Wisconsin, were taken to the hospital.

“Some people died,” said fire chief Steve Howard. City officials declined to specify the number of victims because they are still trying to notify their families. The police said that an interested person had been arrested.

According to Waukesha Police Chief Dan Thompson, at about 4:30 pm local time, the suspect drove a red SUV through the parade roadblock and accelerated towards the parade. He also said that it is not yet clear whether the incident was Related to terrorism.

A video posted online showed that the SUV broke through the roadblock when the police appeared to fire on it. Another video showed the car speeding up into the marching band on the main street, cutting down several people as the audience on both sides of the street screamed.

“Today, our community is facing horror and tragedy in the community celebrations that should have been held,” said Waukesha Mayor Shawn Reilly (Shawn Reilly). “I participated in the parade from the beginning. I saw all the happy children sitting on the side of the road. I saw all the happy parents behind their children. I can still see their smiling faces.”

Local media showed a picture of a red SUV on Twitter with its hood crumpled and parked in the driveway.
