Sinead O’Connor hospitalized days after son’s death

The “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer told fans Thursday night that she was heading to the hospital for help after she shared a series of disturbing tweets about her planned suicide.

“I decided to follow my son. Without him, life is meaningless. Everything I touch, I’m ruined. I only exist for him. Now he’s gone,” she said in a post linked to her official account. wrote on the unverified Twitter account.

O’Connor – who has been open about her mental struggles and suicidal thoughts in the past – went on to say she felt “lost” and blamed herself for her teenage son’s death.

“I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. I’m going to the hospital with the police now. I’m sorry I upset everyone,” she wrote, adding: “Having no kids, I’m lost, I hate myself. The hospital will help for a while. But I’m going to see Shane. It’s just a delay.

A representative for O’Connor declined to comment to CNN for this story.

Shane O’Connor’s body was found on January 7, two days after he disappeared, the singer’s agency confirmed to CNN on Saturday.

O’Connor announced his death on Twitter, saying her “beautiful” son “decided to end his earthly struggle.”

“Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the light of my life, decided today to end his struggles in the world and be with God now,” she wrote. “Rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My dear. I love you so much. Rest in peace.”
