Rocky Mountain Nationals postponed due to bad weather forecast

Friday night’s game between the Colorado Rockies and Washington Nationals was postponed due to strong storms expected in the Washington area.

The game will be played on Saturday at 12:05 pm as part of the doubles. Saturday’s scheduled game moved from 4:05pm to 6:05pm

At 6:40 p.m., 25 minutes before the first pitch, when the postponement was announced at a press conference, it was not raining. About 10 minutes later, an announcement was made in the stadium, and there was boos.

The Nationals won the series opener 7-3 on Thursday night.

ROCKIES: RHP Robert Stephenson has been activated from the COVID-19 injured list. … RHP Peter Lambert (inflamed right forearm) allowed a hit in three scoreless innings Thursday night for Triple-A Albuquerque’s rehab start.

Nationals: RHP Stephen Strasburg (thoracic outlet surgery) will play his second rehab game Sunday in Class A Fredericksburg with a goal of 60-70. … INF Carter Kieboom underwent Tommy John surgery on Friday. Kieboom was on the injured list before the season and has been dealing with a ulnar collateral ligament sprain and flexor strain in his throwing elbow.


Rocky Mountains: Colorado State did not immediately announce Saturday’s starting pitcher. LHP Austin Gomber (2-4, 4.11 ERA) was scheduled to pitch and warm up Friday. On May 4, he held the Nationals to 2 on 7 hits in 6 2/3 innings in a win at Coors Field with 7 runs and 6 walks. … RHP Chad Kuhl (3-2, 3.67 ERA) was scheduled to pitch Saturday. He’s 0-2 with an 8.25 ERA in his last three games. Kull is 1-2 with a 5.74 ERA in four career games with the Nationals — three starts.

Nationals: RHP Aaron Sanchez (3-3, 7.16 ERA) allowed 7 hits, 6 hits in 4 1/3 innings in loss to Colorado on May 5, was scheduled to pitch Friday and will be on the pitch this week Six to start Game 1. … RHP Joan Adon (1-8, 6.97 ERA) is 0-6, has a 7.62 ERA in his last six games and will pitch in Game 2. He faced the Rocky Mountains for the first time.
