Rita Moreno shares how “West Side Story” changed her life

“What I really want to do is kill the bad side of me that keeps coming back to him. That bad woman who doesn’t respect me, who I am, the other side of me,” she said.

Six months later, she landed in “West Side Story”, which changed her life.

“Anita, someone who has feelings for herself. A sense of dignity. I have to portray this. It feels really good,” she said.

In the new film, Moreno plays Valentina, the late wife of the original candy shop owner Dok.

“West Side Story” will be released on December 10.
