prosecutors want Nicki MinajHusband of man jailed for failing to register as sex offender in California – instead of home confinement… TMZ Hip Hop learned.
According to new legal documents, federal prosecutors believe that a six-month prison sentence followed by a supervised release is insufficient punishment Kenneth Petty, who pleaded guilty. They specifically noted that any home confinement ordered as part of his supervised release would be spent in a huge Calabasas home where he and Nicky lived.
The FBI notes that it is located in a “gated affluent community” that includes a swimming pool, Nikki’s music studio and their scenic backyard — facilities that don’t fit their ideas of crime and punishment.
In fact, the U.S. Attorney’s Office seems to believe that it was this luxury that set Petty down the wrong path. In the filing, prosecutors said Petty worked on his sex offender registry for nearly 20 years…until he met Nikki and moved to Cali in 2019. As they describe, “the defendant began dating his wife, quit his job, moved to Los Angeles, and lived a prosperous lifestyle.”
Petty told the court he did not know the specific requirements for registration after leaving New York state, but prosecutors said he was aware of the rules after receiving a two-year annual warning. As we reported… petty bourgeoisie had to registered as a sex offender after 1995 attempted rape conviction in New York.
Now, federal prosecutors in California are recommending that he serve 15 months in prison, five years on supervised release, and pay $55,000 in retribution. The judge will have the final say when sentencing on July 6.
We reached out to Petty’s attorney for comment, but did not hear back.
