Pearl Jam embodies “the show must go on” this week — they’ve found a replacement for a COVID-19 drummer…and they’ve done so with local talent.
Eddie Vader And Company held two sold-out shows this week in Oakland, California — one on Thursday and one on Friday — and in both cases he has summoned skilled drummers from the area to help him and his of bands continue to perform without anyone Matt Cameron.
The regular drummer at Pearl Jam has contracted COVID. Shout out to the Bay Area music teacher sitting on the drums at Oracle Arena. (Don’t know his name.)
MC recently dropped ‘rona, but Pearl Jam insisted on continuing the Oakland show — because they pushed them back before and didn’t want to do it again.
So to help them keep going, they hired several professionals whose names were Josh Klinghofer and Richard Stufruder Carry most of the load at every show – but for at least one song a day, they also have some Oaklanders to fill.
The first person is said to be named Josh Arroyohe joined the band’s final song “Yellow Ledbetter” on stage and apparently did a good job.
The next night, a man named Kay Nuckmans – Played in a band called The Alive – was brought on stage midway through the performance to take over drum duties for the song “Mind Your Manners”, which he also seemed to kill.

Now, before you start thinking it’s something spontaneous that happened on a whim, it’s not at all. It appears that both amateur drummers were handpicked and selected beforehand…we imagine they had some practice as well.
Still, it’s sweet that they can play Pearl Jam concerts in front of thousands. This will improve your profile just a little… no doubt about it.
