The bill was passed on November 10. The outgoing mayor Bill de Blasio (Bill de Blasio) has a month to sign it into law, but has yet to say whether he will do so. If the measure continues, it will take effect in 2023.
The signed law can reduce the possibility of artificial intelligence recruitment technology distorting the candidate base and the resulting employee demographic data. Pro-business organizations such as the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce have supported it, demonstrating that disclosure is vital to employers and their talents.
However, there have been concerns that the enacted law will not be as helpful as promised.Alexandra Givens of the Center for Democracy and Technology told Associated Press The bill does not consider other prejudices, such as ability discrimination or age discrimination. This also assumes that the audit is effective-Julia Stoyanovich of New York University considers these requirements “easy to meet.” There are concerns that the legislation may inadvertently protect employers whose artificial intelligence platforms have different or harder-to-find biases.
