Lenovo is best known for its ThinkPad business laptops, but its Legion line has produced some of the best gaming systems I’ve used over the past few years. Today, the laptop maker is replacing older models with a new fleet of Legion 7 and Legion Slim 7, each with an AMD or Intel (denoted by an “i” in the model name) processors.
along with The latest processors and graphics cards from two major chipmakers, these gaming rigs sport Multiple 16-inch display options, tons of ports, a large battery, and some interesting RGB lighting. Consistent with all systems is an understated design with colorful lights, a 1080p webcam, and a high-resolution panel.
Lenovo Legion 7 and Legion Slim 7 release date and price
Before we dive into it, let’s talk about pricing and availability. The Legion 7i will be available later this month, starting at $2,449. Its AMD sibling, the Legion 7, costs $2,059 and will be available in June.
Legion Slim 7 models are cheaper, but still fall into the high-end category; the Slim 7i, which runs on Intel chips, will cost $1,589 when it arrives this month, while the Legion Slim 7 with AMD Ryzen processors is expected to go on sale in June, Priced at $1,519.
These are just starting prices, So you’ll pay extra for processor, graphics, and monitor upgrades. I’m afraid the prices of these systems are already high in the base model, and once you configure them to your liking, they can get out of hand quickly.
Lenovo Legion 7 and 7i

Speaking of design, the Legion 7 and 7i have a simple, low-profile unibody chassis made of aluminum and magnesium. Two noteworthy design elements include CNC metal trim around the edges and some dazzling RGB lighting that borders the deck, glows through the vents, and illuminates the full-size keyboard with the number pad and WASD Force Sensory keys to get you up to speed The characters in the game are based on the force you apply.
At 14.1 by 10.4 by 0.76 inches and 5.5 pounds, the Legion 7 isn’t the most portable gaming laptop, but it’s not a stationary beast either.I don’t want to take it on the plane But a quick short trip A trip to a nearby coffee shop does not result in any trips to the chiropractor.

Aside from the standard 165Hz refresh rate, the other option is the same.They are both certified to VESA DisplayHDR 400 and Dolby Vision specifications.
To wrap up our not-so-common specs: 99.99Whr battery. Add another one percent and you risk running into trouble with the TSA, the one that sets the capacity limits for the batteries allowed on planes. What this means at runtime is unclear. What I can tell you is that with “super fast charging” the Legion can go from dead to 100% in about 80 minutes.
Lenovo Legion Slim 7 and Slim 7i
It does not require a Ph.D. Interpret the differences between Legion Slim 7 and the Standard Model. You guessed it, these are more portable versions for students, professional gamers or creative professionals who need to work or play away from their desk.

More options is certainly not a bad thing, as you can bump up the CPU power to match the non-Slim version. The advantage of the non-Slim version is in the GPU; the Slim 7i starts with the RTX 3050 Ti and goes all the way up to the RTX 3070, but not the RTX 3080. Likewise, the Slim 7 can be equipped with a Radeon RX 6800S GPU, But no 6850M. You also drop the memory from 32GB to a non-traditional 24GB (8GB and 16GB slots onboard). However, the storage capacity is still up to 2TB.
Another key difference is the screen options, and this is where fine print really matters. The Intel-powered Legion Slim 7i can be equipped with a 16-inch, 2560 x 1600 pixel mini-LED display with a 165Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time. The panel option, which will be available later this year, tops out at 1,250 nits and is VESA DisplayHDR 1000 and Dolby Vision certified. By the way, Mini-LED is a fairly new technology that sits in between LED and OLED, offering excellent contrast, black levels, and brightness.
I think the monitor upgrade will cost a penny. If it’s out of your price range, you can use a standard IPS monitor with a 165Hz refresh rate. Interestingly, the AMD model doesn’t get the mini-LED treatment, but mirrors the options available on the standard version: a 2560 x 1600 IPS panel with a variable refresh rate of 165 to 250Hz, or a similar panel with a flat 165Hz refresh rate.
Lenovo did find a way to fit a 99.99Whr battery into the Slim model, however. I can’t promise you long battery life, But you can get super fast charging by fully charging the battery in at least an hour and a half.
