Murray scored 35 points, Iowa insisted on beating Maryland 80-75

Iowa City, Iowa – Keegan Murray made 5 of 6 three-pointers and ended the game with a career-high 35 points, helping Iowa State to win on Monday night. Beat Maryland 80-75.

Murray made 14 of 21 shots, grabbed 8 rebounds and blocked 3 shots. Philip Rebraka scored 13 points on 6 of 8 shots and grabbed 8 rebounds for Iowa (11-3, 1-2 Big Ten). Joe Tucente had 9 points, 9 assists and 3 Steals.

Murray used a three-pointer to give the Hawkeyes a permanent lead, leading 17-5 in the middle of the second half. Toussaint scored a 3-pointer, Murray hit another from the three-point line, and Tony Perkins made two free throws to rewrite the score to 68-58 with 5:22 remaining in the game.

With 10 seconds left in the game, Eric Ayala made a three-pointer to reduce Maryland’s score to 77-75. However, Patrick McCaffrey made a free throw in Iowa. After making 1 of 2 shots, Ayala missed two free throws and Jordan Bohannan finished scoring from the stripes within 3 seconds.

Ayala leads the Turtles with 19 points (8-5, 0-2). Fatts Russell got 16 points, Qudus Wahab got 12 points, Donta Smart and Hakim Hart each got 11 points.
