Escapade’s journey begins with Marvel Voice: Pride #1 Follow this young superhero’s life as a thief as she explores her life as a transgender mutantHer story, written by Anders and drawn by artist duo and Eisner-nominated cartoonists Ro Stein and Ted Brandt, features Tamra Bonvillain in color as the series’ central story.

“I’ve loved the Marvel Universe for as long as I can remember and may or may not regularly sing the Spider-Man cartoon theme in the shower. So I’m excited to introduce a brand new hero to stand with all my favorites ,” Anders shared Marvel.com.

Escapade, whose real name is Sheila Sexton, is a transgender mutant who can instantly swap physical locations with another person or trade any specific physical or abstract attribute such as possessions, organizational status, skills, superhuman strengths, and even is the situation! Escapade can only sustain energy for a few hours at a time and must be within seven feet of her target, and the more complex the switch, the greater the chance of an accident.

Fortunately for Escapade, she has an invaluable sidekick by her side, her tech-savvy best friend Morgan Red, and a tool belt full of stolen tools and equipment. Escapade and Morgan travel together as professional thieves across the Marvel Universe, stealing from criminal and corrupt organizations…until a meeting with Emma Frost and Destiny changes the trajectory of Escapade’s life forever.

Anders added: “I hope Escapade and Morgan Red inspire trans and nonbinary people around the world to believe that they too can fight for justice through the power of creativity and families of choice.”

“It’s very exciting to be involved in bringing new characters to Marvel Comics,” Stein said. “It was fun to work with Charlie Jane’s script, and I hope people enjoy reading Escapade just as we put her first outing on the page.”
