Berlin (Reuters) – lockheed martin (NYSE: ) said on Wednesday it could deliver the first F-35 fighter jet to Germany in 2026, and expects the plane to gain more traction in Europe as Greece and the Czech Republic express interest. Multiple orders.
“You’ll hear more about it soon,” JR McDonald, Lockheed Martin’s vice president of F-35 business development, told reporters at a news conference at the ILA Berlin Airshow trade fair.
Meanwhile, the first F-35 aircraft on order for Germany to replace its aging Tornado fleet in 2025-2030, depending on the outcome of negotiations with the Berlin government, could be delivered in 2026, MacDonald said.
MacDonald added that German companies, including engine maker MTU, are currently looking at how to participate in the program by supplying parts or providing maintenance.
