Kenyan police shot and killed six people including their wives

Kenyan police called the incident “sad”

Officials said a police officer in Kenya shot and killed his wife and five others with an AK-47 in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

According to a police report, at 01:00 local time, a neighbor heard “a loud noise” from the police officer’s house.

The police then carried out what the officials called a “shooting carnival” in Kabet near the capital Nairobi, killing five other people.

The police statement stated that the officer later committed suicide.

According to Agence France-Presse, the motive for the killing is not yet known, but the police said the couple had been arguing.

Police Chief Francis Wahom told AFP: “We were told that the couple had problems and had quarreled before.”

The police report stated that the police officer identified by the authorities as Constable Benson Imbasi “started to shoot frantically at innocent members of the public” after killing his wife. They called her Carol.

Among the other victims were two motorcycle taxi drivers. The other two were injured and are being treated in the hospital.
