Uncle Sam is trying to figure out what happened in the Uwald shooting that claimed 21 lives – and it was as president Biden Visited the town by myself.
The U.S. Department of Justice announced Sunday that it will review police responses that have come under intense scrutiny over the past few days — as new reports suggest local police waited too long to engage the gunman.
DOJ says they did so at Mayor Uwald’s request Don McLaughlinwhich will be a major incident review led by their community-oriented policing office.
They added, “The purpose of the review is to provide an independent account of law enforcement actions and responses that day, and to identify lessons learned and best practices to help first responders prepare for and respond to active shootings.”
The department noted that it will be impartial and fair about the facts of what happened, and that if anything fails, the agency can improve next time. Of course, the community was outraged that the Border Patrol’s tactical unit took the gunman out of itself after 19 police officers stood for about an hour…disobeyed and stepped down.
Joe and Dr. Jill Biden Tributes were paid to the families of the victims in town on Sunday – who visited the memorial in front of the school and laid flowers.
We’re sure the POTUS visit is significant, but there are still unanswered questions to review — which may be the reason for the Department of Justice’s involvement. A simple “we screwed up” won’t cut it.
