John Mulaney gets dragged for Chappelle stand-up opener, ‘transphobic’ joke

John Mullaney Usually loved by everyone, but now – he’s been slammed… all because he makes Dave Chappell Open for him, the guy told “anti-anti” jokes.

Here’s the deal…John put on a comedy show in Columbus, Ohio on Friday night — the phone was locked in a bag so no one could record — according to people who later flocked to social media, DC was a surprise guest who did a set before John came out.

Many of these people said they felt ambushed by Dave’s presence, especially since he allegedly continued to tell what they said was transphobic/homophobic jokes.

The argument is that these paying customers came to see JM — not Dave — and many of them were either part of the LGBT community or considered themselves allies… go on, if they had known Chappelle would be there.

Of course, it all goes back to Controversy over his Netflix special“The Closer,” some say it’s transphobic — even though DC denies it, and The streamer sticks beside him.

As for what exactly is said to be transphobic (in the minds of these users)…you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who actually described the cracks in detail, but eventually someone did.Harmful jokes are said to be about stage spoilers and gun/knife He is on him.

Dave apparently said something to the effect that…it’s a knife identified as a gun, which some see as a hint of gender fluidity – a fair assessment, of course.

He goes on – this seems to be after getting a laugh – and makes a joke about a couple of viewers whom he speculates may be gay…adding, not that there’s anything wrong with that. Obviously, that’s all that’s been said…but it gets people armed.

We’ll say this… Dave does seem obsessed with joking about transgender topics – he did so on the Hollywood Bowl set a few weeks ago…even talking about the alleged attacker, Isaiah Leelater joked about being a “trans man” he was dealt with.
