Italy released Rudy Gade, who was convicted of murdering Meredith Kecher in 2007

Rome (Associated Press)-The only person convicted of the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher, a British student, was released after serving most of the 16 years in prison.

Italian news agencies LaPresse and ANSA quoted lawyer Fabrizio Ballarini as saying that Rudy Guede’s version originally scheduled to be released on January 4 had been several weeks ahead of schedule by the judge Released and released on Tuesday.

Guede has been allowed to work during the day while he is serving a sentence for the murder of 21-year-old Kercher in 2007.

After Kecher’s American roommate Amanda Knox and Knox’s boyfriend at the time were suspected, the case of Perugia, the university town, became notorious internationally. Both were initially convicted, but the Italian Supreme Court rejected the conviction after a series of erratic decisions in 2015.

Guede was originally convicted in an expedited trial procedure. He denied killing Kecher.
