Haley and Trump “actively” meet

Nikki Haley speaks to the Republican Research Committee at a lunch meeting in the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, June 16, 2021.

Last week, former President Trump and former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley met at Trump’s Sealake Estate, speculating that both of them were focusing on the 2024 White House campaign.

Two sources familiar with the meeting confirmed to The Hill that the two sat down and one of them called it “positive.” Neither source revealed what Trump and Haley discussed.

The meeting is first by politics.

Haley served as Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations from January 2017 to the end of 2018. She joined the government after six years as governor of South Carolina.

Haley denounced Trump in an interview after the January 6 uprising Political Magazine, Implying that the former president will no longer be a force in Republican politics.

“We need to admit that he let us down,” she said. “He took a path he shouldn’t take, we shouldn’t follow him, we shouldn’t listen to him. We can’t let this happen again.”

These remarks received a lot of criticism from Trump and his allies, and Hailey finally softened her tone to the former president.

She later stated in April that if Trump made a comeback in 2024, she would not run for president. She spoke positively of him in a campaign speech in South Carolina this week.

“President Trump and the Republican Party have established one of the hottest economies in U.S. history. Wages have risen to new heights. Unemployment rates have dropped to record lows. Households are booming and businesses are growing. Remember the situation two years ago. ?” she says.

Haley is not the only Trump administration alumnus considering running for the White House in 2024. Former Vice President Mike Pence and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have been supporting mid-term candidates and traveled to key states such as Iowa and New Hampshire. Nonetheless, Trump is expected to freeze the 2024 primary election to a large extent until he announces whether he will run.
