It’s that time of year again – everyone’s kidding Billy Joe Armstrong …he’s totally involved, despite what a difficult time it is in reality.
The Green Day frontman tried to get ahead of all the inevitable memes and posts – taking to the GD Instagram account to throw out a photo of himself floating on a giant rubber duck with a drink in hand.
His caption was simple…”Good morning. You’re welcome.” The BJA pointed out that he was in Singapore now, and that he seemed to be a bit idle – which is also telling.
Of course we’re talking about his band’s famous song “Wake Me Up When September Ends”…and all the cracks online now, making fun of the fact that Billie has to go up from his month – October 1 sleep.
It’s all fun — at least on the surface. But the thing is, this classic ditty has a bit of a dark origin story…and it has to do with Billy’s father and his death when he was a little boy, September ’82 to be exact.
It’s good chronicle…as the BJA has documented this many times over the years and points out that the song is about him dealing with a tough time in his life and having to deal with his father’s death -He did it through this song.
It seems like most people are simply unaware of this harsh truth – which is fine, but looking ahead – people should probably cool off every October 1st for Billie’s jokes…because like we said That way, it’s actually a painful subject for this guy. While he’s joking here, it must be tough.
Frankly, the lyrics reveal what the tune is all about.people just must listen/Notice.
