E-commerce giant Ebay has filed two trademark applications covering a wide range of products and services related to Metaverse and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Ebay Inc. (Nasdaq: EBAY) last week filed two trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) covering a wide range of products and services related to non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and Metaverse.
“Ebay Inc. is about to enter Metaverse,” Mike Kondoudis, a trademark attorney licensed by the USPTO, tweeted on Tuesday. He explained that the documents show the e-commerce giant’s interest in virtual goods marketplaces, possession of physical and virtual goods plans for online retail stores, NFTs, NFT exchanges and NFT trading. The serial numbers for the applications are 97473696 and 97473620.
The two trademark applications were filed on Ebay a day after the company announced that it had get Knoworigin, an NFT marketplace. The two companies signed and closed the deal on June 21, according to Ebay.
Jamie Iannone, CEO of Ebay, said at the time: “Ebay is the first stop for people around the world looking for the perfect, hard-to-find or unique collectibles, and with this acquisition we will continue to be the leading site as our community grows Add more digital collectibles.”
