The Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, D.C., will rename its performance theater after its most famous alumnus… The school says it honors Dave for his “continued commitment and service to the school.”
As we reported, Dave visited his old high school in November when he was fuming over his jokes about the trans community.
thing heated When he invited students who disagreed to speak during the assembly. One student came out and called him paranoid, adding: “I’m only 16 and I think you’re childish.” Some students want the school to reverse its decision to name the building after him.
Dave challenged his supporters and opponents alike – asking both parties to raise money for the school, and if opponents raised more money, he would gladly give up the honour of renaming the school building.

It turned out that his supporters raised the most money, so the building would be called the Dave Chappell Theater.
