Cardano’s Vasil Hard Fork Proposal Submitted: Countdown Begins

Cardano (ADA) blockchain developer Input Output Hong Kong (IOHK) submitted an update proposal to hard fork the Cardano testnet, starting the countdown to the network’s Vasil mainnet upgrade.

Vasil upgrade plan is blockchainwith IOHK describe This fork As the “biggest and best upgrade to date,” it offers developers higher throughput, improved scripting performance, and lower costs.

One of the most important updates noted by the team is the implementation of the diffusion pipeline, which aims to improve the scalability of the blockchain for decentralized applications (DApps).

The update will allow for faster block creation as they can be transferred without full validation.

If all goes well, the testnet upgrade will take place on July 3, and the mainnet upgrade is scheduled to take place around the end of July. The Cardano community has asked for a minimum of four weeks to allow time to test and upgrade applications on the testnet, and IOHK said the hard fork of the mainnet will take place “after everyone is ready.”

Before the Cardano mainnet upgrade was should happen June 29, but delayed by a month On June 22, several prominent errors were cited. IOHK called the project “the most complex work programme we have ever undertaken”.

IOHK’s “primary concern” is to ensure that upgrades are managed in a “safe and secure” manner. It reports that Vasil nodes are creating more than 75% of the testnet network blocks and believes there is “a good chain density to do so safely.”

The last major upgrade of the blockchain was in September 2021, Alonzo hard fork This brings the long-awaited Smart contract functionality Using Plutus Script for the first time, smart contract A development language built for Cardano.

The upgrade is widely regarded as a disappointment as Cardano still only has 11 DApps according to For DeFi Llama. Cardano co-founder Charles Hoskinson previously predicted that by 2021 there will be “thousands of DApps” on Cardano, and Believe the developers are waiting Start their project for Vasil upgrade.

The Vasil node is named in honor of artist and Cardano community member and ambassador Vasil Stoyanov Dabov, who passed away in December 2021 after being diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism.
