Britney Spears says she lost baby to miscarriage

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Britney Spears said she lost a baby early in her pregnancy.

Spears posted the news in conjunction with her partner Sam Asghari on Instagram on Saturday. The pop star, who has freed herself from court custody that has controlled her life for more than a decade, said in April that she was expecting a child with Asghari.

“It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the loss of our miracle baby early in our pregnancy. This is a devastating time for any parent,” the post said. “Maybe we should have waited until we got further to announce, but we are overly excited to share the good news.”

“Our love for each other is our strength,” the post said. “We will continue to work hard to expand our beautiful family.”

Spears, 40, has said she is eager to have a baby with personal trainer Asghari, 28, but also said the nearly 14-year supervision that ended last year has forced her to continue on birth control.

The two met on the set of her “Pajama Party” video in 2016.

Spears has two sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
