Young Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel, told local news outlets that “Mr. Williams committed no crime” and that he would “fight to the last drop of blood to clear him.”

He was due to make his first court appearance on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.

In addition to the specific charges, the indictment includes a broad list of 181 acts that prosecutors say were part of a conspiracy to advance the gang’s interests. They include appearing in videos with inflammatory lyrics, appearing in social media photos with gang symbols, possession of drugs with intent to distribute, aggravated assaults and murders.

The indictment alleges the gang members attempted to kill rival gang member and rapper YFN Lucci, whose name was Rayshawn Bennett, by “stabbing” him in the lower leg at the Fulton County Jail. A year ago, YFN Lucci was one of a dozen people charged in another gang-related RICO indictment in Fulton County.

YSL is mainly active in the Southeast Atlanta and the Cleveland Avenue area, but is expanding its activities to the surrounding metro area, prosecutors said. Its members can be identified by their green or red headscarves — red for blood and green for slime — and clothing with the letters “YSL” or “slime” on it, the indictment said.

The indictment also alleges that Atlanta Rapper Gunna, whose real name is Sergio Kitchens, and aspiring rapper Christian Eppinger, have been jailed and charged with shooting Atlanta police six times in February. It is unclear whether Gunna, who is charged with conspiracy to violate the state’s RICO Act, has been arrested.

In April 2021, Young Thug and Gunna were released on bail for 30 low-level prisoners who could not afford to pay.
