At least two people were killed and several others injured in the attack on the city’s market, local authorities said, as the mayor urged residents to stay in shelters.

Russian troops stormed the eastern Ukrainian city of Sloviansk, killing at least two people and wounding seven others, local authorities said.

He said Ukrainian forces were trying to prevent Russia from preparing an attack on Slovensk.
