Ashley Judd reveals Naomi Judd died of self-inflicted gunshot wound

Ashley Judd and her family want the world to hear their voices Naomi Judd is dead.

Young Judd appeared In an interview with Diane Sawyer, airs Thursday on “Good Morning America.” She said her family had given her permission to share the cause of her mother’s death.

“She used a weapon,” Ashley Judd said. “Firearms. So that’s information we’re very reluctant to share.”

She and her sister Wynonna Judd announced on April 30 that their mother “died of mental illness”. She is 76 years old.

Ashley Judd said she and her family wanted to understand mental illness, explaining that “it’s important to distinguish between loved ones and illnesses.”

The family reluctantly shared the cause of death before it was made public in other ways, Judd said. She also revealed that she was the one who discovered her mother, Fighting Depression Outspokenafter the occurrence.

“I was both sad and traumatized when I found her,” Judd said in an interview thanking everyone for their support for her and her family in the aftermath of the grief.

The matriarch died the day before she and her daughter Wynonna, who formed country music duo The Judds, were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Ashley Judd said her mother “couldn’t hold on” to be recognized by her peers.

“That’s the extent of the catastrophe going on inside her,” Judd said. “Because their focus on her couldn’t penetrate her, and the lies the disease told her were so convincing.”

The Judd sisters attended the ceremony and paid tribute to their mother.
