Tokyo (Reuters)-The Cabinet Office survey on Wednesday showed that Japan’s service industry confidence index rose 0.8 points to 56.3 in November, rising for the third consecutive month because COVID-19 cases are still low and face-to-face services have attracted consumers to come back .
The index is the highest level in the past eight years. The index is based on a survey of employees such as taxi drivers, hotel employees, and restaurant employees who are called “economic observers” because of their proximity to consumers and retail trends.
