Apple’s 2021 iPad Mini tablet is a popular choice for its combination of power and portability — but it’s not a $500 impulse buy. If you’ve been following one, 64GB model Three colors are on sale right now on Amazon for $400 (20% off), matching the lowest price we’ve ever seen.
The iPad mini 2021 wins solid with its new and modern design, solid performance and improved camera 89 Engadget ratings. It has similar specs to the iPhone 13, with the same fast A15 Bionic chip, and a huge performance boost over the fifth-generation model. It sports a larger 8.3-inch display with a higher resolution than the previous model at 2,266 x 1,488, and does away with the physical home button, moving the Touch ID sensor to the power button. Meanwhile, the volume buttons are at the top, making room for the Apple Pencil 2, which attaches magnetically to the side.
Other features include USB-C charging and an upgraded camera with support for Apple’s Center Stage feature, which keeps you in the center of the frame during video calls. The main downsides are the lack of a headphone jack, the limited 64GB of storage on the base model, and the rather high price compared to tablets with comparable specs. Amazon has certainly lowered prices, but it’s best to act soon before the deal closes.
