The Qatar-based media network said it believed Israel was responsible for the “cold-blooded” killing of its senior journalist in the occupied West Bank.
Here’s what Al Jazeera Media Network has to say about Journalist Shireen Abu Akleh killed:
In the early hours of Wednesday, May 11, 2022, the Israeli occupying forces cold-bloodedly assassinated Al Jazeera correspondent in Palestine, Shireen Abu Akleh, with live ammunition in a blatant murder in violation of international law and norms She, while carrying out her journalistic assignment, was apparently wearing a journalist jacket that indicated she was a journalist, covering the Israeli occupation forces’ attack on the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank.
The Al Jazeera media network condemns this heinous crime, whose purpose is simply to prevent the media from doing their job. Al Jazeera believes the Israeli government and the occupying forces are responsible for the killing of Shireen. It also called on the international community to condemn and hold the Israeli occupying forces accountable for the deliberate targeting and killing of Shireen.
Israeli authorities are also responsible for targeting Al Jazeera producer Ali al-Samudi, who was also treated for a bullet in the back while reporting on the same incident.
Al Jazeera expresses its sincere condolences to the family of Shireen in Palestine and her extended family around the world, and we pledge to prosecute the perpetrators in accordance with the law, regardless of their efforts to cover up their crimes, and to bring them to justice.
