Multiple comedians now have far fewer comedy albums on Spotify than last month-all because the streaming giant does not want to pay the extra royalties they demand.
Spotify snatched several albums from dozens of well-known comedians-including people like this Kevin Hart, John Mulani, Tiffany Hades, Among many others-just before Thanksgiving, this was done because they were at a deadlock on this issue… which is based on Wall Street Journal.

The problem… Obviously, many comics work with an organization called Spoken Giants-the organization has been contacting Spotify, YouTube, SiriusXM, Pandora and other companies, asking them to pay extra money for the following content a joke written by a comedian.
Basically, most comics can only get paid as a performer through their record company and/or distributor…not a composer/writer who can be a work at the same time like a songwriter. This is what Spoken Giants strives for-but Spotify can’t play.
It’s not clear how many albums they have removed in total, but it seems a bit too many-because the Spotify page of the comic mentioned above looks very bare, especially TH… who doesn’t have a comedy album her personal No more information…only one-time singles.
The criteria for album retention and non-retention are also not fully listed-but in any case, SG is angry on behalf of the comedians (none of them seem to have said this personally, by the way)… Tell WSJ Spotify that this action hurts them The bottom line.

At the same time, Spotify stated… “Spotify has paid a lot of money for related content and hopes to continue to do so.” They added: “However, given that Spoken Giants is arguing about the rights of various licensors, distribute The tag of this content, Spotify and Spoken Giants must work together to resolve this issue to ensure that this content is still available to fans around the world. ”
