BBQ Grill Deals
This is one of our favorites Portable Grill. The BioLite is part grill, part fire pit, and comes with a built-in battery that doubles as a phone charger in a pinch. It burns wood and charcoal when you want to toss it in the trunk and hit the road, and it packs so little. This deal is also Available at BioLite.
ranger is Yukon’s smaller, more portable sibling, we review and like. This is a great little smokeless fire pit. If you don’t want a more travel friendly Ranger, Yukon is also on sale for $400 ($350 off).
I really like this sturdy, no-nonsense cast aluminum grill from PK Grills.it doesn’t have some expansion possibilities Weber Kettle, but it bakes well, smokes well, and looks good. It’s a small discount, but we’ve never seen a much lower price.
This used to be in our Best Camping Stove Guide, but it wasn’t available for most of last year, so we removed it. Here, it’s on sale again at REI. This is a solid dual burner stove, but what sets it apart is the ability to connect a Jet Boil stove and use it as a third burner.
Clip the coupon button to see additional discounts at checkout. This Cuisinart can do double duty on your summer camping trip in the backyard or on a picnic table. We haven’t tested this exact model, but we love some of Cuisinart’s other grills so much that we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this one.View our Best Portable Grill Guide for some other options.
Camping and hiking deals
We’ve tested a 4-person version of this three-season tent from MSR and love it. If you need more space, this 6 person tent is for you. Don’t let the weight scare you off; we backpacked with 4 people and split the weight between two, which was not bad.
Deuter’s are some of the best packaging. I’ve had a similar pack for five years now and it’s still the most comfortable pack I’ve ever owned, thanks to what Deuter calls the mesh Aircontact system. It allows good airflow in your back and helps keep you cool on hot days.
Slightly larger than the Trail, the Futura 28 is perfect for long hikes, cabin trips, or a carry-on. We haven’t tested this, but like the Trail, it features Deuter’s mesh back system, which should give you the same back comfort and ventilation.
For a week-long trip (or longer if you embrace the super lightweight spirit), this is a solid bag.In my tests, I tucked a few pieces of clothing into the bottom of the sleeping bag and then tucked a Bear Refuge 500, just right. Tie your tent poles outside and you’ll be on the road for weeks.
Tempest is a slightly smaller version of Claw. It’s a great weekend bag, but when you don’t need all the space, you can take advantage of the side compression straps and tighten it up for day hikes.
Nemo’s new Aurora Highrise hasn’t been tested in our gear lab yet, but Nemo makes some of the best small, lightweight tents on the market, so we have no problem recommending this large 13-pound, six-seater nylon castle.View our tent guide For some other large and (relatively) light tents.
Therm-a-Rest’s NeoAir sleeping pad is so small that I keep throwing it in my bag, but that’s a good question.Regular size is 72 x 20 inches, weighs only 1 lb, and provides R value 4 to help keep you warm on cold nights. This Women’s sizes are also on sale.
I’m testing Kelty’s tarp tents, and what I can say so far is that the 9-foot version stands up pretty well on the beach in winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour, which is impressive. If you plan to use it on a beach, etc. where there are no trees, be sure to grab a pole, they are sold separately.
This headlight is indestructible. I (Scott Gilbertson) have had mine for over 20 years. While I had to change the strap once during that time, it worked just as well as the day I bought it.take some Rechargeable AAA batteryand you will have years of light.
I think WIRED associate editor Adrienne So summed up the chair very well, saying: “Honestly, it’s big, heavy, takes up a lot of space, and it’s awkward to fold. But once you put all your loved ones in It’s all worth it in front of the fire.”
We haven’t tested this one, but we do like several other Nemo chairs that are very similar. This just adds to the ability to tilt to view the night sky.
Cheap camping cookers are the worst. I dropped an enamel plate on my last trip and the enamel coating shattered from the edge. I swear next time I’m going to buy indestructible sheet metal. That’s exactly what these Snow Peak Titanium boards are about, and as an added bonus, they’re lightweight and great for backpacking too.
Both EMS and REI sell climbing gear. All the deals listed here are too many, so we just grabbed some of the highlights.be sure to check EMS climbs the deal page and REI climbs deals page More.Oh read our Best Mountaineering Gear Guide Seek other advice.
This is a reissue of the classic La Sportiva Mythos hiking shoe, now made from eco-friendly materials. Please note, only available in sizes 41-44.
Who doesn’t need a new powder bag? Keep an extra in your glove box, as Alex Hannold probably did. Black Diamond’s Mojo Chalk Bag is well made to withstand a lot of climbing, even if you can’t free climb on the big walls in the valley.
Every climber needs more cams, and who wants to pay full price? These prices vary by size, but they’re all 25% off at REI.
Protect your head with one of these helmets. Black Diamond’s Half Dome Helmets are suitable for everything from a day on the cliffs to alpine adventures.
Kayak and Stand Up Paddle Board Deals
This is the best thing I’ve tested this year. It’s hard to quantify exactly how good it is in 50 words. Let’s just say it makes the water a pleasure and opens up new horizons of paddling possibilities, whether you’re at a lake or bay, or even surfing. The Breeze Aero is stable, beginner-friendly, and small enough to fit in your trunk.
Pulling out this inflatable kayak is a great place to start if you want to find fishing holes that others don’t know about.Works well (still Inflatable Watch out for those hooks and knives, though) and can be stowed in the back seat.
Oru’s foldable kayaks are another possibility for those of us who don’t have the space to store and transport a boat. It’s not a whitewater kayak by any means, but it weighs only 20 pounds, packs a small package, and folds up in minutes.
