A mass shooting in Buffalo is being investigated as a hate crime after a man allegedly shot dead at least 10 people in cold blood…all livestreamed.
Payton Gendron, 18, was taken into custody on Saturday and is now being questioned by the FBI … after he allegedly rampaged after a shooting at a Tops Friendly Market grocery store with what appeared to be a semi-automatic weapon, according to the area’s authorities, Nearly a dozen people were killed, most of them black.
Officials said Gendron drove long distances to this particular neighborhood — mostly African-American. He is believed to be from Conklin, NY…about 200 miles away. He also released a manifesto declaring himself a white supremacist, the report said.
The scariest aspect…the shooter seems to have been livestreaming the entire ordeal, which was on Twitch for a while…and was caught and spread.
In the video showing him driving to the supermarket, you hear a man – who appears to be wearing tactical gear – say something along the lines of “you have to do it”. Then he stopped in front of the entrance, parked the car…and jumped out to start filming.
Police swarmed after reports of a mass shooting, and Gendron was eventually arrested…bystanders saw the bloody aftermath of his alleged handcuffs.
Other screenshots show what’s going on inside… purportedly depicting the gunman walking around and firing at people at close range. During this time, his Twitch page was active, and it looked like people were actually listening and maybe even commenting as it unfolded.
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown called it “an unimaginable nightmare”… while Erie County Sheriff John Garcia was more forceful – calling the attack “pure evil” and “directly racially motivated” Motivated hate crimes”. All city and county leaders strongly denied the violence and sent their thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims.
All told, 10 people have been reported dead so far…and 3 others have been injured. There were reports that an armed security guard opened fire on the man, but the gunman was wearing body armor…then the gunman shot and killed the guard.
